Abstract

To report a case that suggests that factors associated with daily disposable contact lenses contribute to the risk of developing infectious keratitis. A case of a culture-positive Pseudomonas corneal ulcer in a compliant daily disposable contact lens wearer is presented. The case involves a 35-year-old woman with a culture-positive Pseudomonas corneal ulcer that was treated successfully with topical antibiotics. The patient wore daily disposable contact lenses on a part-time basis and was fully compliant with the instructions for use. Compliance and wearing time were not causal in this episode of infectious keratitis, but factors related to the lens might have been.
