Abstract

Atherosclerosis is the main cause of mortality in end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. Malnutrition, inflammation and diminished paraoxonase activity were used to calculate the sum of risk factors for atherosclerosis development in a cohort of 141 chronic renal disease patients. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was implemented to assess risk of death. Kaplan-Meier analysis (Log rank=12.06, P=0.0072) showed higher risk of death with increasing number of risk factors in haemodialysis patients. Malnutrition in combination with inflammation and oxidative stress is associated with higher mortality in patients on long-term haemodialysis.

ApoE, Lipids & Cholesterol

Serum cholesterol, triglycerides, apolipoprotein B (APOB)-containing lipoproteins (very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), immediate-density lipoprotein (IDL), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL), lipoprotein A (LPA)) and the total cholesterol/high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol ratio are all connected in diseases. Here is the latest research.

Cardiovascular Inflammation

Inflammation plays a significant role in the development of cardiovascular diseases, an understanding of these endogenous processes is critical for evaluating the risks and potential treatment strategies. Discover the latest research on cardiovascular inflammation here.

Cardiovascular Disease Pathophysiology

Cardiovascular disease involves several different processes that contribute to the pathological mechanism, including hyperglycemia, inflammation, atherosclerosis, hypertension and more. Vasculature stability plays a critical role in the development of the disease. Discover the latest research on cardiovascular disease pathophysiology here.
