Abstract

Acute myocardial infarction remains one of the most common clinical problems in internal medicine and cardiology. The development of the modern coronary care unit has been accompanied by an enhanced understanding of the pathophysiology and natural history of this variable clinical syndrome, and specific therapy for many complications of infarction is available, as discussed in this article.
