For bladder function some data are from patient records at Boston Children's Hospital. Adolescents who grow up with the burden of a major congenital anomaly have an overwhelming desire to be normal. Many achieve high levels of education and occupy a wide range of employment scenarios. Babies born with damaged kidneys will usually experience improvement in renal function in the first 3 years of life.
