Abstract

Following the description of functions concerning aethylalcohol being nutrient fluid, luxury foodstuff, narcotic and addicted subtances; its metabolism and influence toward nervous system were to be discussed. Acute and chronic consequent effects within the nervous system connected with ageing and therapeutical actions are shown. Psychopathological, neurological and neuropathological syndroms which are most frequent and important are exposed. All of them are in high are rarely than in young people. Therapeutical actions must take care of complete causes of chronic alcoholism. Psychological and somatic consequential damages should be treated. Rehabilitation is more successful in aged patients.
