Antinuclear antibodies in diagnosis and management

Hospital Practice
E M Tan

Abstract

Antinuclear antibodies are known to be present in a variety of autoimmune diseases, and they appear to play a primary role in the pathogenesis of a subgroup of "ANA diseases." It has been shown that each presents a distinct ANA profile, characterized by the presence and titer of certain antibodies and the absence of others. These profiles are of practical value in diagnosis.
