B cell development: important work for ERK

Immunity
Michael R Gold

Abstract

The B cell receptor (BCR) activates the ERK kinases, but what does ERK do? In this issue of Immunity, Yasuda et al. (2008) show that ERK controls a transcription factor network by which the pre-BCR drives early B cell development.

Cell Checkpoints & Regulators

Cell cycle checkpoints are a series of complex checkpoint mechanisms that detect DNA abnormalities and ensure that DNA replication and repair are complete before cell division. They are primarily regulated by cyclins, cyclin-dependent kinases, and the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome. Here is the latest research.

Adult Stem Cells

Adult stem cells reside in unique niches that provide vital cues for their survival, self-renewal, and differentiation. They hold great promise for use in tissue repair and regeneration as a novel therapeutic strategies. Here is the latest research.

AKT Pathway

This feed focuses on the AKT serine/threonine kinase, which is an important signaling pathway involved in processes such as glucose metabolism and cell survival.

B cells: Gene Expression

B lymphocytes are white blood cells that play a role in the adaptive immune system by secreting antibodies. Here is the latest research on gene expression in B cells.
