Abstract

A study was made of 41 CHD patients with complete occlusion of one of the major coronary arteries, 32 of them (78%) had a previous history of myocardial infarction (MI). A clinical course in the group of patients after MI was characterized by less severe angina, lesser daily requirement in nitroglycerin, and higher physical exercise tolerance. A more stable course of angina after MI in occlusion of one of the coronary arteries was determined by the level of occlusion, the state of the myocardial zone below the site of occlusion, a possibility of its ischemic response, and the type of collateral circulation.
