Community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus: diagnosis and treatment

Comprehensive Therapy
H Richard Weiner

Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus, a common organism once susceptible to antibiotics, has developed resistance to many agents. Once a source of morbidity and mortality limited to hospitalized patients, drug-resistant S. aureus now appears among other populations-often in young people without significant medical conditions. Appropriate control measures, early diagnosis, and proper antibiotic choice can limit spread and severity of infection.

An antifungal, also known as an antimycotic medication, is a pharmaceutical fungicide or fungistatic used to treat and prevent mycosis such as athlete's foot, ringworm, candidiasis, cryptococcal meningitis, and others. Discover the latest research on antifungals here.

CRISPR & Staphylococcus

CRISPR-Cas system enables the editing of genes to create or correct mutations. Staphylococci are associated with life-threatening infections in hospitals, as well as the community. Here is the latest research on how CRISPR-Cas system can be used for treatment of Staphylococcal infections.
