Complications in the early period after the injury of thoracolumbar portion of the vertebral column and spinal cord

Abstract

Results of treatment of 62 survivors with thoracolumbar portion of vertebral column and spinal cord trauma with complications: pneumonia (in 25.8% of observations), pyelonephritis (in 16.8%), the bedsores appearance (in 15.8%), enteritis and intestinal dyskinesia (in 6.5%), operative wound suppuration (in 4.8%). Complications were combined frequently, what caused the course of the disease and the results of treatment worsening. The timely operation conduction and carrying out of purposeful treatment using medicines permitted to eliminate or to prevent the appearance of complication in early period after trauma occurrence in majority of patients.
