Abstract

Various new drugs with different mechanisms of action are presently under investigation for the field of solid tumors. The taxanes, Taxotere and Taxol, are among those drugs possessing a unique mechanism of action but showing pharmacological differences. The results of several phase I and II studies of Taxotere in monotherapy as well as in combination schedules with chemotherapy and Radiotherapy show Taxotere to be active in non small cell lung cancer and build the basis for further evaluation in clinical trials.
