Effect of enomelanin on erythrocyte hemolysis induced by free-radical reactions and other factors

Abstract

Grapes-isolated melanin (enomelanin) was shown to inhibit red cell haemolysis induced by Fenton reagent, photoactivated chlorpromazine and antierythrocyte antibodies. Enomelanin failed to produce any effect on osmotic hemolysis.
