Abstract

Effect of taurine on content of electrolytes was studied in rat myocardium, liver tissue, skeletal muscles and erythrocytes. The balanced electrolytic state of a body was impaired by administration of adrenaline at arrhythmogenic doses, while content of potassium in erythrocytes was altered by means of addition of adrenaline or p-chloromercuribenzoate into the incubation medium. Taurine was shown to normalize the content of potassium and calcium ions in vivo and in vitro.

Atrial fibrillation is a common arrhythmia that is associated with substantial morbidity and mortality, particularly due to stroke and thromboembolism. Here is the latest research.

Arrhythmia

Arrhythmias are abnormalities in heart rhythms, which can be either too fast or too slow. They can result from abnormalities of the initiation of an impulse or impulse conduction or a combination of both. Here is the latest research on arrhythmias.
