Abstract

In previous research and tests it was found that some isocoumarin derivatives showed marked hyperprothrombinemic activity in rats. This action has now been demonstrated also in rabbits by using one of the most active compounds (allylamide of 4-phenyl-3-isocoumarinic acid). In both species it was found that the drug under test strong by antagonises the anticoagulant action of a dicoumarol compound (Warfarin). This result leads to the supposition that the isocoumarin derivatives tested act in a similar way to Vitamin K.

Blood Clotting Disorders

Thrombophilia includes conditions with increased tendency for excessive blood clotting. Blood clotting occurs when the body has insufficient amounts of specialized proteins that make blood clot and stop bleeding. Here is the latest research on blood clotting disorders.
