Abstract

Case histories are based on actual medical negligence claims or medicolegal referrals; however certain facts have been omitted or changed by the author to ensure the anonymity of the parties involved. This article discusses a case involving a patient who died as a result of overwhelming postsplenectomy infection. The case highlights the importance of regular vaccination and education of asplenic patients.
