Fatal ruptured mycotic coronary artery aneurysm

Papua and New Guinea Medical Journal
P Palmer

Abstract

Sudden death in a 21 year old Papuan female was found to be due to a ruptured mycotic aneurysm of the right coronary artery. Caseous mediastinal glands were present but without other evidence of tuberculosis. As the reaction observed in the walls of the aneurysm was granulomatous, it is probably that tuberculosis was the aetiology.
