Hypernephroma with polycythaemia: a postoperative complication.

British Journal of Urology

Abstract

A case of acute renal failure following radical nephrectomy for hypernephroma in a 72-year-old man is presented. It is postulated that this was a direct result of vascular weakness from preoperation treatment of the overdistended vessels by repeated venepuncture over too short a period, with resultant loss of vascular tone.
