Abstract

Small molecules at work: The articles in this special issue illustrate the significant advances made in the field of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The small molecules described have the potential to reach or surpass the efficacy of biologics in current use, and to address diseases for which biologics have no impact. Scientific efforts driven by medicinal chemistry will ultimately pave the way for new medicines to benefit patients suffering from immune-mediated inflammatory disorders.
