Abstract

Mycoplasma pneumoniae indirect immunofluorescent antibody titers were determined on the sera of 104 patients. Four patients (3.9%) had titers of 1:128+, suggesting active or recent M pneumoniae infections. A retrospective review of complement fixation M pneumoniae and Cold Agglutinin test results, along with the current data, suggests that 0.4% to 5.7% of our patients have recent or active M pneumoniae infections.

Antibodies: Complement Activation

The complement system can be activated by antigen-associated antibody. In the classical pathway of complement activation, C1q, C4b, and C3b are all able to bind to the Fc portion of IgG or IgM. Find the latest research on antibodies and complement activation here.
