Total tyrosine aminotransferase activity in organ culture of fetal human liver is increased by 347% after 15 h incubation with 2 micro M of dexamethasone. Isoelectric focusing reveals that the increased activity is due to induction of cytosolic tyrosine aminotransferase (EC while the activity of the nonspecific mitochondrial aspartate aminotransferase (EC remains unchanged.
