Ischemic cardiopathy in young athletes. Description of 3 cases

Abstract

Over age 30, coronary artery disease is the most frequent cause of sudden death in athletes. Adequate medical controls are important to avoid this event, especially in sport activities that place repeated loads on the cardiovascular system. Even well trained athletes are vulnerable to such events. Superior athletic performance does not exclude ischemic cardiomyopathy. Three cases of ischemic cardiomyopathy in young athletes are reported.
