Ischemic stroke: "acidotoxicity" is a perpetrator

Abstract

Ischemic stroke is a devastating neurological disease. The responsible mechanisms are not completely understood. In this issue of Cell, Xiong et al. (2004) elucidate a molecular mechanism by which acidosis damages the brain during ischemia.
