Kingella kingae meningitis with bilateral infarcts of the basal ganglia

Infection
J N Walterspiel

Abstract

Kingella kingae was isolated for the first time from the cerebrospinal fluid in a 21-month-old Caucasian girl with stomatitis and meningitis. A computed axial tomogram of the brain showed changes compatible with bilateral infarction of the basal ganglia. Ampicillin and chloramphenicol treatment was effective.
