Abstract

In a study conducted retrospectively, the incidence of new hypertension-associated complications was low during administration of methyldopa as part of a total antihypertensive regimen in 435 patients with essential hypertension. Antihypertensive therapy was not associated with further morbid events among patients with a pretreatment history of myocardial infarction or stroke.
