Abstract

The mutations in genes for nucleoside catabolism--dra (deoxyriboaldolase) and drm (phosphodeoxyribomutase), which belong to the same deo opron in Escherichia coli, have been mapped in different regions of the Bacillus subtilis chromosome. The drm mutation is cotransduced (by AR9 phage) with the citK gene at frequency of about 50%, while the dra mutation is cotransduced with the hutH gene at frequency of 57%.
