Abstract

Peripheral blood lymphocytes from selected donors have a higher natural killer (NK) activity against the cells of a human erythroblastoid line (K-562) persistently infected with measles virus or herpes simplex virus type 1 than against their uninfected counterparts. The mechanisms by which persistent infection may enhance the NK activity displayed by lymphocytes are discussed.
