Abstract

The diagnostic determination of residual urine with radionuclides is a method without complications for the patient. It can be carried out without loss of time wherever nuclear medicine facilities are available using conventional measuring instruments. The radiation exposition is negligible. The special advantage of this method is the by-passing of the catheterization of the bladder. This means that the risks of a potential lesion of the urethra and infection of the urinary passages which are iatrogenically promoted are avoided. In keeping the standardized conditions the examination results are identical with those of the catheter method.
