O uso da estimativa na resolução de tarefas matemáticas: um estudo com alunos ao final dos anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental



A estimativa é um tipo de cálculo matemático em que calculamos com valores aproximados ou para averiguar razoabilidade dos resultados. Partindo disso, tivemos por objetivo analisar a compreensão e uso da estimativa por alunos ao final dos anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental bem como analisar tarefas matemáticas que possibilitam estimar. Participaram desta pesquisa, 50 alunos de duas turmas de 5º ano do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola da rede estadual do município de Bauru–SP - Brasil. Os instrumentos utilizados foram: 1) Questionário, que tinha por finalidade caracterizar os participantes em termos de idade, gênero bem como sua compreensão do eu é estimativa; e 2) Tarefas matemáticas, que tinha por objetivo investigar o uso da estimativa pelos alunos. Os resultados desta pesquisa evidenciaram que os alunos não sabem discorrer sobre o que é estimativa e que há uma grande ênfase nos uso de métodos algorítmicos para calcula. O pouco uso da estimativa na resolução das tarefas foi em problemas em que os dados numéricos não estavam evidentes. Assim, concluímos quepara o desenvolvimento do sentido da estimativa faz-se necessário pensar em tarefas que propicieesse tipo de cálculo.
