Abstract

The authors describe the case of a young man of 17 with no otological history who presented with perfect comprehension of language in spite of a total absence of hearing above 1500 VD. Obstetrical trauma with anoxia is the only aetiology possible. This paradoxical case can only be explained as the result of some sort of spontaneous re-education.
