Abstract

The fundi of 55 patients receiving hemodialysis were examined. Of 55 patients, six demonstrated peripheral retinal microaneurysms. They had hemodialysis treatments three times a week for several years and showed retinal arteriosclerosis, systemic hypotension, and anemia. It is possible that these systemic conditions may produce microaneurysms in hemodialysis patients.
