Abstract

We present a patient with the rare association of a retroperitoneal abscess and infected bipolar hemiarthroplasty diagnosed by metallosis in the abscess preoperatively. T1 and T2 weighted magnetic resonance images revealed a very low signal area, suggesting the presence of particulate metal in the abscess. Critical interpretation of imaging may be useful in such cases.
