Silent myocardial ischemia--classification and management

Hospital Practice
P F Cohn

Abstract

As many as 10% of middle-aged men in the United States may have asymptomatic but active coronary artery disease. Additional patients have silent disease after a myocardial infarction or a combination of silent ischemia and angina. Silent and painful episodes have similar hemodynamic and electrical properties, and antianginal medications appear to have global anti-ischemic effects.
