The bacterial vaginosis problem

Abstract

The changing concepts through the years concerning this condition are briefly reviewed. The pathogenesis of the cardinal symptoms are explained, concerning the changes in the vaginal ecosystem. The importance of the complex clinical criteria is pointed out including the determination of the vaginal pH, the test with 10% KOH and the observation of "clue cells".
