Abstract

An analysis of the postoperative period in 34 patients with organic hyperinsulinism has shown that its severity and duration is determined first of all by postoperative pancreatitis with its symptoms observed in all the patients. The severity of this complication can be decreased by shorter duration of the operation which can be achieved by the introduction of more reliable new methods of diagnosis of the disease as well as by using a plasma scalpel for operating on the pancreas which can make the operation less traumatic.
