The problem of true and false mutant spots of the mwh type in method of somatic mosaics of Drosophila melanogaster wing cells

Abstract

The problem of identification of true and false mutations of the mwh type was studied by means of gamma-irradiation in a test of somatic mosaics of wing cells of D. melanogaster. It was shown that the level of induction of mwh-like structures consisting of two trichomes and of true mwh mutations is the same if the former are located on the wing surface. Apparently, mwh-like structures located on veins should be assigned to morphoses. The necessity of taking into account two-trichome structures in this test is substantiated.
