Ventilatory function of the human lungs during 90-day isolation in the environmental chamber

Abstract

Presented are data about the functional state of the respiratory system of humans under the conditions of restrained locomotion during chamber simulation of the spaceflight work/rest schedule and program of physical exercises. The respiratory function was evaluated by the parameters of forced breathing. It was shown that the 90-day isolation combined with restrained locomotion did not pose any restrictive/obstructive constraints to the ventilatory function of the lung. Functioning of the respiratory muscles was not impaired either.
